Lecture - Presentation
Dear Program Directors:
I am offering fascinating presentations to do with Israel and the Jewish People that are appropriate for all groups and all ages. Some topics that are currently available for presentations are the following:
Synagogues Around the World - This topic seems to be the hot one at the moment. I show slides and use an overhead projector to take the group on a journey around the world to various synagogues. We visit Morocco,Curacao, Poland, China, Italy, Holland, and the United States.Three Days and A State - This is a
fascinating topic, depicting the three days prior to the
Proclamation
of the State of Israel.
I used to
work at the Hall of Independence, where Ben Gurion proclaimed the State of Israel.
I take thegroup on a journey from Herzl,
Clandestine Immigration, UN Partition Plan, and the actual proclamation, etc,
reviewing the possible names for the State of Israel, the struggle of what
would be written in the Declaration of Independence, why May 14, 1948, etc.
Full Circle - is a topic that starts at the beginning of the Diaspora (dispersion ) of the Jews from Jerusalem and reviews various Diaspora communities, for instance:
Alexandria, Egypt - Babylonia - Byzantium - Spain - Ashkenaz - Ottoman Empire - Poland, and full circle back to Israel. It is an amazing journey. This topic can be used as a series, extending it to 3 or 4 lectures, if desired.
Sephardic Customs & Ashkenazi Customs - A look into the customs of the Sephardic Jew
Following
the life cycle and holiday events. A
comparison to the Ashkenazic customs, as well as
the Mizrachi Jews from Iran, Syria, etc...
History of the Jews of Iraq - Starting from Ancient Babylonia up until today.
A look into the Yeshivot, Talmud, splits within the Jewish community, up to the Ottoman Empire, British Rule and deterioration of Jewish life in Iraq today. The reason this topic originally interested me is because my husband is an Iraqi Jew. This topic is fascinating, but heavy (sad).
Overall History of Jerusalem - I do this topic many times on Yom Yerushalayim or Jerusalem Day.
I use visuals and various props.
In addition, if you are interested in a particular topic that is not mentioned above, I am more than happy to put it together and present. I am a licensed Israeli Tour Guide, as well as a licensed World Tour Guide through the Ministry of Tourism in Israel. I recently moved to Boca Raton, FL after making Aliyah and living in Israel for 13 years.
